After a week off, the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series returns to the track on Friday at Las Vegas Motor Speedway for the Bucked Up 200. This is the first of two Las Vegas races in the truck series this season with the second race beginning the Round of 8 on Sept. 24.
In the last race at Las Vegas, Austin Hill held off Sheldon Creed to pick up the victory, clinching his place in the round of 8. Last February in the spring race at Las Vegas, Kyle Busch dominated to pick up his first win in 2020 in the three NASCAR national series.
One unique aspect to this race are the abundance of Camping World paint schemes after Camping World CEO Marcus Lemonis offered to sponsor drivers that did not have sponsors lined up for Friday’s race. The 10 drivers are defending truck series champion Sheldon Creed, Jordan Anderson, Norm Benning, Grant Enfinger, Raphael Lessard, Jesse Iwuji, BJ McLeod, Dawson Cram, Tyler Hill and Parker Kligerman.
Ben Rhodes starts on the pole after sweeping the two opening races at Daytona International Speedway in overtime. Rhodes won the opener in overtime as a huge crash occurred crossing the finish line and at the Daytona Road Course, he held off Creed and John Hunter Nemechek to pick up his second victory. Rhodes will start on the pole alongside Creed, who looks to pick up his first victory since winning the Phoenix championship race last November.
Nemechek, who is running full-time in the truck series with Kyle Busch Motorsports after a year running every race in the Cup Series for Front Row Motorsports, will start third. Nemechek has started strong this season, picking up two stage wins along with two top-10 finishes and one top-five finish. He is looking for his first win in the truck series since the spring race at Martinsville Speedway in 2018. Matt Crafton, the 2019 truck series champion, will start fourth.
Christian Eckes will start fifth as he will drive the No. 98 for ThorSport Racing with Grant Enfinger driving in the No. 9 for CR7 Motorsports. Enfinger will start 18th.
Todd Gilliland will start sixth. Chandler Smith will start seventh with a top-10 finish already in his first full-time season in the truck series for KBM. Derek Kraus, who was involved in three racing incidents in the season opener, but secured a top-10 finish at the Daytona Road Course, will start eighth.
Stewart Friesen and Carson Hocevar round out the top 10. Busch will once again run in the truck series in his hometown of Las Vegas, winning the last three spring Las Vegas races. He will start 29th on Friday in the No. 51 car.
Coverage for the Bucked Up 200 will begin at 9:00 p.m. EST. The stages go through laps 30, 60 and 134. You can catch the race on Fox Sports 1 and the Motor Racing Network.
