2020 NASCAR Xfinity Series preview: Texas 2

The Round of 8 in the NASCAR Xfinity Series will continue at Texas Motor Speedway Saturday afternoon.

The race at Texas will be the second of three Round of 8 races. After Chase Briscoe locked up a Championship 4 berth with his win last weekend at Kansas Speedway in the opening Round of 8 race, three spots remain up for grabs for seven playoff drivers. All remaining drivers can lock up a berth with a win.

Briscoe will start the race on the pole. In four Xfinity starts at the track, Briscoe has two top-five finishes and two top-10 finishes. His best finish at Texas came earlier in the season as he finished second behind Ford teammate Austin Cindric. Briscoe’s average Xfinity finish at the track is 9.8. After being promoted to drive the No. 14 Stewart-Haas Racing Ford in the NASCAR Cup Series for 2021, the race at Texas will be one of Briscoe’s last at the Xfinity level.

Cindric, meanwhile, will start seventh. After an incident with fellow playoff driver Noah Gragson last weekend at Kansas, Cindric is only two points above the Championship 4 cutline. After winning at Texas earlier in the season, Cindric currently has an average finish of 5.4 in five Xfinity starts there. In addition to the win, Cindric has three top-five finishes, four top-10 finishes and has led 82 laps.

Gragson currently sits last among all remaining playoff drivers in terms of points (-33). In three career Xfinity starts at Texas, Gragson’s best finish came on March 30, 2019, when he finished 13th. His average finish at the track is 24.3.

While Justin Haley currently sits below the playoff cutline (-3), he still has had success at Texas. In three career starts at the track, Haley has two top-10 finishes. Haley finished eighth in the race earlier this season.

Stages for the race end on lap 45, lap 90 and the finish on lap 200. Coverage will begin on NBC Sports Network at 4:30 p.m. EST. The Performance Racing Network will provide radio coverage
