2020 NASCAR Xfinity Series preview: Las Vegas 2

Farewell regular season, and greetings, postseason.

The Round of 12 for the NASCAR Xfinity Series will officially begin at Las Vegas Motor Speedway Saturday evening.

Vegas will serve as the first of three races during the Round of 12. The final two races in the superspeedway at Talladega and the road course at Charlotte will be the other events slated before the 12-driver playoff field is trimmed to eight.

Chase Briscoe will start on the pole for the 300-mile race in Vegas. During the regular season, Briscoe led the Xfinity field in wins (seven). The 25-year-old for Stewart-Haas Racing also ranked second in top-five finishes (14) and was tied for fourth in top-10 finishes (18). Briscoe won the race at Vegas in February and has an average finish of 12.8 in four career Xfinity races there.

Austin Cindric will share the front row with Briscoe. Although Cindric finished second in wins behind Briscoe (five), he led the field in top-five finishes (17). His top-five finish total in the Xfinity Series this season was a career-high. The 22-year-old for Team Penske will look to improve upon his career season with a high finish at Vegas. In five career Xfinity races at Vegas, Cindric has finished inside the top 10 twice and has an average finish of 15.8.

Justin Allgaier led the field in laps led (896) and stage wins (12) during the regular season. Over his final three Xfinity races this season, Allgaier won both races at Richmond Raceway and finished fifth at Bristol Motor Speedway. Allgaier will start third.

Despite being unable to pick up a win in the Xfinity Series this season, Ross Chastain led the field in top-10 finishes (23). Chastain, who will ride for Chip Ganassi Racing in the No. 42 next season in the Cup Series, finished inside the top 10 in his final seven Xfinity races during the regular season. Chastain will start fourth.

Harrison Burton will round out the top five and start fifth. Burton closed out the season by finishing inside the top five in four of his last five Xfinity races.

Stages for the race will end on lap 45, lap 90 and the finish on lap 200. Coverage will begin on NBC Sports Network at 7:30 p.m. EST. The Performance Racing Network will provide radio coverage.
