Chase Briscoe would fight from third to first in the final 10 laps at Bristol to score his seventh win of the 2020 season.
The NASCAR Xfinity Series closed out the 2020 regular season Friday night at Bristol Motor Speedway.
Ross Chastain and Justin Allgaier would fight throughout the first stage for the lead with no one being able to pull over a half-second away from the other.
A big wreck took place on lap 62 as Jeffrey Earnhardt got into his teammate BJ McLeod, shooting McLeod head-on into the outside wall. As McLeod came down the track, Vinnie Miller collided hard into the driver side of McLeod’s car. Meanwhile, Tommy Joe Martins could not get the car slowed down enough and spun down the frontstretch, collecting rear damage.
Allgaier went on to win stage one, which would become a series-leading 11th stage win of the year for the JR Motorsports driver.
Allgaier would continue to lead early in stage two. Justin Haley, who finished second in stage one, would suffer a right-front flat tire and be forced to pit. He would re-join the track three laps down.
On lap 120, Brandon Jones would make contact with Joe Graf Jr. entering turn three, spinning him out and collecting Michael Annett.
Allgaier would lead the remaining laps of stage two to sweep the stages on the night.
Allgaier would suffer a slow pit stop following the stage and would fall to third behind Chastain and Chase Briscoe.
Chastain would take advantage and hold the lead in the early portions of the final stage.
A Dexter Bean caution would bring drivers down to pit road for the final time on the evening.
Before the restart, Cindric and Chastain would bump and bang doors. A lap later, Cindric would clear Chastain for the lead.
Cindric, with no power steering, would work hard to fight off Chastain and Briscoe, but Briscoe would be too fast and overtake Cindric for the lead with six laps to go. Briscoe went on to win the race.
Chastain finished second for a fifth time this season and extends his top-10 streak to seven races (four consecutive top fives).
Anthony Alfredo scored his seventh top-10 finish of 2020 in just 17 starts.
Timmy Hill earned his first top-15 finish since Pocono back in June.
The Xfinity Series will begin the Round of 12 next Saturday evening at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.
