Hattori Racing and Austin Hill scored their first win of the 2020 season Friday evening at Kansas Speedway.
The NASCAR Gander RV & Outdoors Truck Series held their first of two races this weekend at Kansas Friday evening.
Christian Eckes would lead the field to green seeking his first win of the year, but would be quickly overtaken by Brett Moffitt. Todd Gilliland would soon take the lead in the stage as well.
GMS Racing’s Tyler Ankrum would have a brake line issue during the stage and went to the garage to get a new one installed. He would return to the race down 22 laps.
During a Robbie Lyons caution, Ty Majeski would suffer a speeding penalty and head to the rear of the field.
Moffitt would go on to win stage one, which was his second stage win of the season.
Stage two would be tame and caution-free. Austin Hill would win the stage for his first stage win of the season.
Eckes would lead the field to green, but two laps later, rookie Zane Smith would overtake him for the lead.
Hill and Moffitt would go back and forth for the lead until Hill would finally clear with around 35 laps to go.
Defending Kansas winner Ross Chastain would suffer a flat tire with 30 to go and would be forced to take his Niece Motorsports truck to the garage.
Hill would cruise in the closing laps to take the victory.
Moffitt finished second. ThorSport Racing finished third and fourth with Grant Enfinger and Matt Crafton respectively. Rookie Derek Kraus rounded out the top five. It was his second top-five finish of 2020.
