Despite starting at the rear, having to make a pass-through on lap one, Kyle Busch won his second truck race of the season. Busch notches career win number 58 in the series.

Busch started at the rear due to a technical issue where he was served an L1 penalty and docked 10 owner points. On the first lap, he had to pass through the pits and it caused him to play catch-up for the duration of this race. On top of that, on lap seven, he collided with the wall, causing damage to his right side. Despite all of this, he did not lose a lap before the competition caution on lap 15.

On lap 20 after the competition caution, Chase Elliott, Zane Smith and Brett Moffitt all got in a wreck that forced another caution. This took out Smith and Moffitt while Elliott was able to make it to pit road for repairs. Moffitt also wrecked in the Xfinity Series race earlier on Saturday.

On the restart with two laps left in the stage, Ross Chastain passed Austin Hill and Grant Enfinger to capture the stage one victory. Hill and Enfinger finished seventh and 17th respectively.

Busch would take the lead nine laps into stage two. From there, he would dominate, winning by more than five seconds. Chastain would end up finishing stage two in second behind Busch. Matt Crafton suffered a flat tire with five laps left in stage two and needed to pit immediately. Chastain and Crafton finished third and ninth respectively.

The final stage began with a caution as Brennan Poole suffered a flat tire. Then after the restart, Elliott contacted the wall in turn two early in the final stage, which dropped him outside of the top 10 for the next 20 laps. Elliott would finish fourth.

With 30 laps left in the race, Korbin Forrister brought out the caution when Christian Eckes and Crafton stayed out after everyone else made their green flag pit stops. During the caution, Sheldon Creed crashed into the barriers on pit road to bring out a red flag. Creed finished 20th and Eckes finished eighth.

After the red flag, Busch passed Eckes with 23 laps to go. With 12 laps left, Jordan Anderson spun around to bring out the caution flag. On the restart with seven laps to go, Busch cleared Chastain and Ankrum to bring home the victory.

Ankrum’s second-place finish was his first top-five and top-ten run of the 2020 season.

Pocono Raceway will be the site of the next truck series race in two weeks.
