On Wednesday, the UFC announced three title fights set for the promotion’s next ESPN+ pay-per-view event. The card will take place on “Fight Island”, which has been announced as Yas Island in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.
The card will be headlined by a welterweight title fight between Kamaru Usman and Gilbert Burns. Usman last defended his title back in December after defeating Colby Covington at UFC 245. Burns earned the title opportunity last Saturday after picking up a dominant win over former champion Tyron Woodley. He is currently on a six-fight winning streak.
Alexander Volkanovski’s first title defense as featherweight champion will be a rematch against former champion Max Holloway. Volkanovski also defeated Holloway at UFC 245 last December in a thrilling five-round affair.
The first title fight of the card will be for the vacant bantamweight title between Petr Yan and former featherweight champion Jose Aldo. Yan is 14-1 and undefeated through six fights in the UFC. Aldo has lost two fights in a row and four of his last six, but was rewarded the shot anyway.
The rest of the main card is filled by a strawweight rematch between Jessica Andrade and Rose Namajunas and a flyweight clash between Amanda Ribas and Paige VanZant.
The card takes place on July 11.
