After a quality night for Jimmie Johnson, and his first second-place finish since 2015, his car has failed post-race inspection due to failing the rear alignment numbers in the Optical Scanning Station (OSS).
Johnson has been disqualified from his result, and instead of a second-place run, he will place 40th. He will also forfeit all stage points earned in the first 300 laps of Sunday night’s race.
Johnson had earned 46 points on the night, but after the disqualification, he will only receive one point for finishing last of the championship-eligible drivers.
With the disqualification, his teammate Chase Elliott finishes second, followed by Ryan Blaney, Kyle Busch and Kevin Harvick to round out the top five.
Chris Buescher scores his second top-10 finish of 2020 after being bumped up from 11th.
