Vegas Xfinity race postponed to Sunday afternoon

The overcast clouds and light drizzles turned into pitch-black blankets and torrential downpours as the Xfinity Boyd Gaming 300 was rained out Saturday evening. The race will presume approximately one hour after the Pennzoil 400 concludes tomorrow.

After the invocation, anthem and command, the field was looking to race, with an initial start time of 1:33 PST. Once the cars took pit road, however, the drizzling rain took over again.

After another waiting period, the flag finally waved green and the second Xfinity race of the year began. On lap 18, #8 Daniel Hemric lost control of the rear tires and spun out on turn 3 leading into turn 4. This served as the Competition Caution that was initially intended for lap 20. #98 Chase Briscoe took over the lead after the green and would hold it to claim the Stage 1 victory.

Five laps into Stage 2, the rain would take over again, leading to a red flag. After clean-up crews were making progress, rain would continue, leading to the race’s postponement.

The race will be televised on FS2 approximately one hour after the conclusion of the Cup race. The tentative time for the race is 7:30 EST.
