Dwayne Douglas Johnson better known as The Rock was born in Hayward, CA in 1972. He comes from a strong family involvement in the world of professional wrestling and moved around a lot as a young kid living in New Zealand, Connecticut, Hawaii and Pennsylvania.
Always a promising athlete he, he received a full scholarship to the University of Miami to play football. Though he was sidelined by an injury and replaced by future star Warren Sapp, he was part of their 1991 National Championship team. After a brief stint in the Canadian football league he decided to jump into the family business and try his hand at wrestling. Through his incredible personality and skill, Johnson gained mainstream fame in the World Wrestling Federation from 1996 to 2004. He is an eight-time champion, five-time tag team champion and victor of the 2000 Royal Rumble.
The Rock’s first leading film role was in 2002’s The Scorpion King for which he was paid a little over $5 Million. Other film roles followed in The Rundown, The Game Plan, Get Smart, GI Joe and of course The Fast and the Furious. In 2013 Forbes listed Johnson No. 25 in the Top 100 Most Powerful Celebrities and has been in the top twenty every year since.
